Two-shot: My original intention for Everything Left Unsaid was for it to be a two-shot, but I can feel it starting to get out of control in my head the more I plan 😂

Most popular multichapter: If we’re throwing it back to the good ol’ days then it would have to be How to Outfox a Billionaire (which one day I swear I will get back to! Henry & Liza live rent free in my brain I swear!) BUT most recently it has to be Scenes From Another Life (which I’m working on & updating sometime tonight since it got delayed by birthday celebrations!)

Actual Worst Part of Writing: It is a truth universally acknowledged that a writer in want of a story has to start it - getting those ideas out of my head and onto the page is one of life’s hardest chores.

How you choose your titles: I’ve been programmed since finishing my degree to go for the most cinematic title I can come up with - I sit and imagine what it would look like as a film/TV show and pick a title that’s snappy enough to match the vibe! Sometimes a phrase gets stuck in my head at random, though and it just feels right.

Do you outline: I should, but I don’t. I just start with free writing and refine it as I go.

Ideas I probably won’t get to but it would be nice: Oh boy, if only you could see the folder full of original fiction ideas I’ve amassed over the years…one day I’ll get around to them. One day…

Best writing habits: First and foremost I’d say trust your gut. The story you want to write is worth writing. Just give it a shot and see if the passion is still there once it’s on the page. If it is, get a routine together to keep the momentum going. I seem to get the most motivation to write on Sundays, I don’t know why, so I try to stick to banging out as much as I can so I can work on it bit by bit in the week. Even if you give yourself one allotted day to write, that’s still a good way to keep the idea fresh in your mind.

Spicy opinion: Oh boy, my former screenwriting tutors are gonna hate me for this, but - ’show, don’t tell’ is a rule made to be broken. Sometimes the thing you show on screen/in your writing gets lost in translation and frustrates the audience/reader. A little context sometimes goes a long way. Don’t hold the audience’s hand and use a scene as ‘payoff’ because that can backfire (sorry to Rebecca’s adventures with The Flying Dutchman, but, I’m looking at you Matthjis).

Were you named after anyone?

I was almost named after someone but it changed because the name ‘sounded too old’. I was almost an 80 year old baby 😂

When was the last time you cried?

Full-on cried? Probably months ago. I got a little teary watching Black Panther: Wakanda Forever recently though.

Do you have kids?

No, but I’d like to one day. But that’s a whole other complicated issue.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Yep. If I ever stop being sassy, assume I’m dead.

Physically? Their eyes. Personality-wise, their sense of humor and the way they laugh.

Blue.

Scary movies or happy endings?

Both. Both is good. I like being scared, but I also hate being scared…and I think I speak for everyone when I say you can’t beat a good rom-com!!!

Any special talents?

Hmmm, apparently I can throw my voice and it freaks people out - that’s my theater training in action babyyy!!! 😂

In the words of Bruce Springsteen, I was born in the USA (sorry).

What are your hobbies?

I hate this question so much because I always have this moment of staring wistfully into the middle distance like 'what is a hobby?’ lmao BUT I guess I’d have to say writing, playing the piano, video games (just finished Resident Evil: Village and about to get onto the DLC)

Have any pets?

Three chaotic dogs - one of them has emotional problems so fireworks are his arch enemy (but so are trucks, the doorbell, wine corks, balloons, the vacuum….I could go on)

What sports do you play/have you played?

Tennis, badminton, lacrosse, hockey, but not anymore! I’m more of a yoga/pilates gal these days.

5 ft 2. SMOL.

English & Drama.

Dream job?

Writer for TV & Film, although I have a few novels left in me yet - although I do think about getting into interior design staging every now and then. Either way it comes down to something creative & flexible (like me 😏)
